About

Have you ever smelled the rain in Africa when it hits the dry earth after a long period of drought? Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. In Africa, rain is scares and was the key to survival for the people and animals who have lived on this land for thousands of years. In fact, some scientists believe that people inherited their affection for the scent of rain from ancestors who relied on rainy weather, often travelling great distances to greet it.

I named my company Petrichor to honour this history and carry it into the future by sharing the mysteries of Africa with it’s visitors.

Is tailor-made more costly then booking myself?

On the contrary, our rates are the same as you would obtain from a direct booking. As an online tour facilitator, doing direct bookings or via a ground handler we all receive commission from lodges, camps and hotels to book them for you and the commission structure does not change regardless of how many organisers there are involved. Planning and organising an african safari can be rather daunting when you are not familiar with the country. So why not let us smooth out the creases and remove the complexities of planning an african safari, allowing us to provide a unique, authentic and exceptional experience making sure you have the stress-free holiday of a lifetime.

Itineraries

To some, Africa is a mystery – a far away land that can scarcely be imagined. For others, it’s a once in a lifetime destination full of exotic creatures. For me, it is home. I was born and raised in Namibia and much of my childhood was spent outdoors learning about the delicate balance of nature and exploring the wonders of my country. Even now, I am happiest in those vast places. It has always been my wish to share that with others. In many ways, we all came from this same place and a visit here should feel like coming home.

My first introduction to the many facets of the tourism world was back in 1996 when I saved up money to do the schooling and achieve my dream of becoming a guide. Guiding has been a part of my life ever since. I travelled, managed a guestfarm and lived on a boat in the Maldives exploring the underwater world as a diver, but in the end, I came back home to Namibia. Here, I fulfilled my dream of starting my own company. My life now is guiding travellers and helping people arrange the trip of their dreams.
